Mashable has a post regarding a new social search engine called 50 Matches.  It only crawls sites that have been bookmarked or voted for on sites like Digg, del.icio.us, Reddit, etc, and only returns 50 results per query.

On their about page they state “For some time, people feel that Google search results are not good […]

Daviddalka.com recently posted his inside scoop regarding some upcoming changes with MyBlogLog.com and Yahoo!  Apparently they have a few things in the works which is great to hear.  You never know how things will pan out for a small company once they are sucked up into the large corporate machine.
Here are a few things to […]

Lee has a screenshot, click the thumbnail to your right, of a new Google SERP layout which includes a different designated spot for the “related searches” and also includes links to category refinements.
I think it looks decent, and its about time they made some improvements to their SERPs.  That said, I can’t imagine this one […]

I’m a huge fan of widgets. I’ve had a lot of discussions with some others within the office regarding the new age of content consumption and Web 2.0. Widgets are a big part of this. There are few key reasons why you should be using widgets and things they can accomplish […]

I just read Lee’s post entitled “Are Search Engine Rankings are Dead?”, with the followup “R.I.P. Search Engine Rankings?” from Jennifer at Search Engine Guide.
Are they right? Partially. Yes, the landscape has changed. That said, it hasn’t changed enough to a point where the ranking is no longer a metric. […]

It’s Mother’s Day tomorrow, so being the nice man that I am, and the horrible procrastinator, I just now sent my mother some flowers using FTD.com.  Kudos to them for allowing me to order one day before and arrange for the flowers to be there tomorrow!

The order process was standard, but on the confirmation page […]

One of the things I love about working here is the great team that we’ve built over the years. I feel team building is a business skill just like negotiating, communication, or even SEO. Unless hiring and recruiting is your full time job and responsibility it can be tough to identify needs, find […]

Are You REALLY Different?

Check out these results.

Query: seo company “why we’re different”
Query: seo company “why we are different”
Query: seo company “what makes us different”

I don’t have the time to physically check each site, but I know where I’d place my bet. I bet the percentage of SEO companies that are in fact “different” is less than 5%.

I recently signed up for Danny’s new Search Marketing Expo conference in Seattle schedule for June 4th and 5th (more posts to come on this later). I was thinking about some people I know will be there and searching through some resumes and it got me thinking about SEOs, arrogance, bragging rights, and the […]

For new players in the field it can be a debate, but not for professional SEOs and those that are aware of the Sandbox. You’ve got a new feature, or venture, or product. Technically it’s strong enough to stand on its own two feet.  But, will it get any love from Big G?  The answer is […]
